Those who are planning to travel to Europe with a Schengen visa are required to fulfill the Schengen visa travel insurance requirements, of which having proof of an adequate travel medical insurance policy that covers repatriation for medical reason, emergency medical evacuation, urgent medical attention, and emergency hospital treatment or death.  The policy must also cover the entire period of stay or transit in the Schengen area, be valid in all Schengen countries, and have a minimum coverage amount of EUR 30,000. Some embassies also recommend that $0 deductible is chosen in insurance application. To be on the safer side, it is better to choose a $0 deductible.
